According to The Daily Mail, it has come to light that Chelsea had to offload their hotel to BlueCo, a consortium led by Todd Boehly and Clearlake which owns Chelsea, to ensure compliance with the Premier League’s profit and sustainability regulations. While clubs are permitted to incur losses of up to £105m ($134m) annually, Chelsea’s current losses stand at £249m ($310m).

Given their dire financial situation, Chelsea is expected to sell a significant number of players, prioritizing the departure of home-grown talents. The club faces a race against time to generate funds and mitigate their substantial losses to avoid a substantial points deduction. Everton and Nottingham Forest have already faced repercussions this season, indicating that Chelsea might face even harsher penalties.

Offloading home-grown players would be regarded as ‘pure profit’ on the club’s financial records, aiding Chelsea in adhering closer to the Premier League’s profit and sustainability guidelines. Consequently, players like Lewis Hall, Armando Broja, and Conor Gallagher might be put on the selling block, while even captain Reece James could be considered for transfer.

Chelsea is confronted with the daunting task of rectifying their financial woes, with an uncertain wait for potential sanctions looming ahead. Their current position at ninth in the Premier League makes European qualification unlikely, further intensifying their financial predicament.
