Graham Potter, the former Chelsea manager, has reportedly turned down the opportunity to take over as the manager of Ajax. The 48-year-old has been without a job since leaving Chelsea in April 2023 and has been selective about his next move, having rejected offers from Lyon, Leicester, and the Swedish national team in the past year.

Despite being impressed by Ajax, Potter felt that the project was not the right fit for him. Ajax has been under the interim management of John van’t Schip since Maurice Steijn’s dismissal in October, but the club is now looking to appoint a new permanent manager ahead of the 2024-25 season. Potter, who was sacked by Chelsea after just seven months in charge, is now reportedly a target for Manchester United, who are considering parting ways with Erik ten Hag due to a poor run of form.

Potter is not the only name linked with the Manchester United job, as Thomas Tuchel, currently at Bayern Munich, and Gareth Southgate, the England national team manager, are also reportedly in contention. If ten Hag does leave United, he has been rumored to be considering a return to Ajax, the club he left in 2022 to join Manchester United.
