Manchester United is reportedly considering a cut-price transfer move for Atletico Madrid’s Mozambique international left-back, Reinildo. The 30-year-old, who joined Atletico from Lille in 2022, has just one year left on his contract, potentially making him available for around £8 million this summer.
Despite suffering a cruciate ligament tear in February 2023, which kept him out until November, Reinildo has only featured 15 times for Diego Simeone’s side since his return, leading to speculation about his future. Both Manchester United and Aston Villa are said to be interested in the left-back, with Juventus also monitoring his situation. United manager Erik ten Hag has hinted that a left-back could be a priority target for the club, given the injury woes of Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw’s ongoing fitness issues.
However, Villa, under Unai Emery, could offer Champions League football, potentially giving them an edge in the race for Reinildo. If the move materializes, Reinildo would make history as the first player from Mozambique to play in the Premier League, adding further intrigue to his potential transfer saga.
