England star Sancho made his way back to Signal Iduna Park during the January transfer window following a disappointing spell with Manchester United. Since his return, he has netted two goals in 12 Bundesliga matches and played a pivotal role in Dortmund’s 1-0 victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League semi-final first leg. According to Florian Plettenberg’s report, BVB are keen on retaining the winger beyond this season and are considering another loan arrangement.
However, a permanent transfer seems unlikely due to Dortmund’s financial limitations. Sancho, aged 24, remains under contract with United until 2026. Nevertheless, if Erik ten Hag remains as manager, negotiations between the Red Devils and Dortmund could be on the cards, either for a permanent deal or another loan, following their well-documented fallout at the beginning of the season.
Speaking on the matter, Dortmund’s sporting director Sebastian Kehl stated, “His [Sancho] qualities don’t need to be described. He has regained his smile in the six months with us. We will try everything. But Manchester United also sees how well he is playing at the moment. Maybe they also want to sell him for profit. Or bring him back.”
Despite the speculation, Sancho’s focus remains on the upcoming crucial Champions League semi-final second leg in Paris. Dortmund heads to the French capital with a 1-0 lead courtesy of Nicklas Fullkrug’s superb goal. After a convincing 5-1 victory over Augsburg, in which Sancho was rested, Edin Terzic’s side enters the match with heightened confidence.
