Bellingham, despite missing Real Madrid’s last two games, reported for England duty at the beginning of the week. However, following an evaluation by the Three Lions’ medical team, the decision has been made for the 20-year-old to continue his rehabilitation in Spain.

Levi Colwill, the Chelsea defender, has also been sent home due to a shoulder problem that kept him out of the Premier League draw against Manchester City.

Both Colwill and Bellingham will be unavailable for England’s upcoming Euro 2024 qualifying matches against Malta and North Macedonia in the next week.

Despite the absences, Gareth Southgate still has a nearly full-strength squad for the clash with Malta at Wembley on Friday, as England’s place at Euro 2024 is already secured.

However, there will be two late additions, with Marcus Rashford and Kalvin Phillips from Manchester United and Manchester City respectively, joining the team slightly later in the week due to “personal matters.”

Real Madrid is hopeful that Bellingham can accelerate his recovery after being permitted to leave the England camp.

Since his high-profile move to Santiago Bernabeu in the summer, the former Borussia Dortmund player has made a significant impact, scoring 13 goals in his first 14 appearances.

Currently placed second in La Liga behind surprise package Girona, Carlo Ancelotti’s team is set to face Cadiz on November 26.
