According to The Daily Mail, Al-Ittihad is planning to revamp their goalkeeping lineup this summer and has set their sights on Manchester City’s Brazilian goalkeeper, Ederson. They have admired him since last summer but were hesitant to spend significant money at that time. Now, they are preparing a £25m ($31m) offer to compete with Al-Hilal and Al-Nassr in the upcoming season.
The report indicates that although Al-Ittihad had interest in Ederson last summer, they were not ready to make a substantial financial commitment. However, this summer, they are confident that a bid starting at £25m could persuade Manchester City.
Additionally, Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr is also reportedly considering a move for Ederson to replace the ageing David Ospina, whose contract expires at the end of the season.
Despite Stefan Ortega’s impressive performances as Ederson’s backup this season, it is highly unlikely that Pep Guardiola would be willing to part with Ederson, given his status as one of the top goalkeepers in the world.
