The injury, which occurred during Leeds United’s match against Manchester City on April 30, 2022, resulted in a fractured right femur.
Despite returning to first-team training 18 months after the incident, Dallas has accepted that his knee has suffered irreparable damage. In a statement, he expressed his gratitude for having lived his childhood dream of playing professional football, acknowledging that while this may not be the ideal ending, he must accept that this chapter of his life is closing. Dallas began his career at Coagh United before moving to Brentford and then to Leeds United in 2015.
He made 266 appearances for Leeds, scored twice in a memorable win against Manchester City in April 2021, and played a crucial role in Marcelo Bielsa’s promotion-winning campaign. The retirement announcement marks the end of a career that saw Dallas win 62 caps for Northern Ireland and play at Euro 2016.
