Cristiano Ronaldo, playing for Al-Nassr, was sent off during the Saudi Super Cup match against Al-Hilal after an altercation with defender Ali Al-Bulayhi. Ronaldo’s frustration seemed to boil over as he elbowed Al-Bulayhi in the chest after a tussle for the ball.
The incident sparked a confrontation involving players from both teams, with Kalidou Koulibaly and Aymeric Laporte also getting involved. Ronaldo was shown a red card by the referee and sarcastically applauded the decision before leaving the pitch. This is not the first time Ronaldo and Al-Bulayhi have clashed, as Ronaldo previously accused the defender of play-acting in a Saudi Pro League match.
Al-Bulayhi has a history of confrontations with top players, having also clashed with Lionel Messi and Son Heung-min in the past. Despite Ronaldo’s dismissal, Sadio Mane managed to score a goal for Al-Nassr, but they ultimately lost the match 2-1, with Al-Hilal advancing to the Saudi Super Cup final.
