Alessio Tacchinardi, Darko Kovacevic, and Nicola Amoruso, former Juventus players, share the belief that the Bianconeri require a fresh central midfielder to enhance their chances of winning the Serie A title this season.

Currently occupying the second position in the Serie A standings, just two points behind Inter, Juventus faces challenges with Paul Pogba serving a precautionary suspension due to a failed doping test, and Nicolò Fagioli banned for involvement in a betting scandal. Consequently, there’s a widespread anticipation that Juventus will pursue the acquisition of a new central midfielder during the winter transfer window.

Tacchinardi, Kovacevic, and Amoruso, all former Bianconeri players, unanimously assert that strengthening the midfield is crucial for Allegri’s team to stay competitive in the title race and vie for Juventus’ first Scudetto in four years.

Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Tacchinardi expressed his preference for a player like Rodrigo De Paul, emphasizing the need to fill the opponents’ box effectively.

Kovacevic, the former striker, aligned with Tacchinardi, stating that, with Locatelli and Rabiot already in the team, focusing on a technically proficient box-to-box midfielder would be ideal.

Amoruso, another ex-Juventus striker, echoed the sentiment that the Serie A giants should prioritize signing a player to replace the void left by Pogba and Fagioli.

The question of whether Juventus will make a substantial investment in January remains uncertain. Recent reports suggest that the Bianconeri will only pursue reinforcements if they can secure permanent transfers for Samuel Iling-Junior or Matias Soulé, amounting to over €25m in the January transfer window.
