Tennis luminaries Novak Djokovic, Carlos Alcaraz, Rafael Nadal, and Naomi Osaka graced the Santiago Bernabéu for the thrilling El Clasico clash between Real Madrid and Barcelona on Sunday, April 21.

Under Carlo Ancelotti’s helm, Real Madrid clinched a nail-biting 3-2 victory over their arch-rivals Barcelona, with Englishman Jude Bellingham’s dramatic stoppage-time goal (90+1′) sealing the win. This triumph propelled Los Blancos to an 11-point lead over Barcelona in the La Liga standings.

During the match, Spanish tennis talents Carlos Alcaraz and Rafael Nadal added their cheers to the Real Madrid side from the stands. Their elation was palpable as they celebrated Bellingham’s decisive goal.

Unfortunately, Carlos Alcaraz is grappling with an injury, casting doubt on his participation in the upcoming Matua Madrid Open. His recent withdrawal from the ATP 500 Barcelona Open, won by Casper Ruud, underscores his current health concerns. Conversely, Nadal has made a triumphant return to clay after nearly two years.

In addition to Alcaraz and Nadal, ATP World No. 1 Novak Djokovic received a special invitation to the venue. Real Madrid chairman Florentino Pérez presented the 24-time Grand Slam champion with a personalized Los Blancos jersey ahead of the 2024 Laureus World Sports Awards, set to be held in the Spanish capital on April 22.

Pérez also extended this gesture to legendary American football quarterback Tom Brady and acclaimed actor Andy Garcia, who will host the 2024 Laureus World Sports Awards. Djokovic, although withdrawing from the Madrid Open, remains in Madrid due to his nomination in the World Sportsman of the Year category at the Laureus Awards.

Japanese tennis sensation Naomi Osaka shared a snapshot on X (formerly Twitter) alongside Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, currently sidelined due to a knee injury. Osaka expressed her support for Real Madrid in the post, captioning it, “hala Madrid! thank you.”

Despite her challenges on the court since returning from maternity leave in Brisbane, Osaka is gearing up for the Madrid Open, determined to regain her form and shine once more.
