Lazio winger Mattia Zaccagni expresses his satisfaction at prolonging his tenure with the Biancocelesti, aiming to soar to greater heights alongside the club.
The Italy international has inked an extension with Lazio, securing his presence until June 2029.
Confirmation of the agreement came from club director Angelo Fabiani on Wednesday, heralding Zaccagni’s continued association with the team.
Addressing his contract extension on Thursday via his official Instagram account, the 28-year-old reflected, “I’ve been wearing this jersey since August 31, 2021, and will continue doing so for many years.” He added, “With the pride of those who believe that having an eagle as a symbol you can only fly higher and higher. Together.”
Despite reported interest from Juventus, Zaccagni’s decision to extend his contract cements his commitment to Lazio for the foreseeable future.
Lazio solidified the arrangement with Zaccagni following the news of Felipe Anderson’s impending departure at the contract’s conclusion in June, as he prepares to join Palmeiras in Brazil.
Having contributed 20 goals across 112 appearances during his three-season stint with Lazio, Zaccagni’s significance to the team is evident.
Formerly associated with Hellas Verona, Zaccagni earned his senior Italy debut in March 2022, accumulating four appearances with the Azzurri. Under the stewardship of new Italy manager Luciano Spalletti, the 28-year-old has featured in three matches.
