According to gossip columnist Fabrizio Corona, the Serie A betting scandal is far from concluded, with allegations of involvement extending to approximately half of Serie A, including additional members from Juventus.

Corona, known for his past involvement in scandalous activities such as blackmail, commenced accusing several Serie A players of participating in illicit betting on football matches, starting from last summer. Notably, he singled out Nicolo Fagioli of Juventus, who is currently suspended, and Sandro Tonali of Newcastle.

While Corona’s claims regarding Fagioli and Tonali proved accurate, he also implicated other individuals such as Nicolo Zaniolo, Nicola Zalewski, Nicolo Casale, and Alessandro Florenzi, none of whom faced consequences.

Corona appeared at the Court of Milan today for a hearing to determine whether he should be subject to 18 months of preventative special surveillance. During his interaction with reporters at the court, he commented on the ongoing Serie A betting scandal, emphasizing that the legal proceedings in Italy tend to prolong, with trials suspended and resuming after years. He reiterated his assertion that not all the names involved have surfaced yet and reiterated his claim that half of Serie A is entangled in the scandal, attributing the complexity to Juventus’ involvement.

As of now, Corona’s allegations concerning Fagioli and Tonali stand as the only ones that have been corroborated, resulting in suspensions for both players as part of the broader scandal.
