Ten Hag assumed control of the Red Devils in the summer of 2022, guiding them to their first trophy victory in six years with Carabao Cup success last season. However, his tenure has been marked by inconsistency in both performance and results.

The United board has refrained from addressing the speculation surrounding Ten Hag’s future. New stakeholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe remarked, “I’m not going to comment on the job he’s done because that would be inappropriate. What we have to do is make sure that the environment, the organisation, the people in the structure are right.”

“We have to do that bit, so I’m not really focused on the coach but on getting that bit right. It’s not for me to judge that. But we’ve made some quite difficult decisions in our time in business. We’ll just be logical about it, assess the facts and make a fair judgement. We’re not a brutal organisation really. But sometimes you do have to make decisions, that may not be popular.”

Despite Ten Hag recently expressing confidence in his continuation and envisioning the club’s progress, reports from The Sun suggest that the first-team squad anticipates a new manager for the upcoming season. Manchester United currently sits sixth in the Premier League standings, trailing by 11 points from the top four, while their aspirations for success in the FA Cup linger. Amidst uncertainty, there’s speculation that Graham Potter, formerly of Chelsea and Brighton, is poised to take over the managerial reins at Old Trafford for the 2024-25 season.
