Mikel Arteta Hopes For Ben White's England Return

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has expressed his hope that defender Ben White will end his England call-up protest soon. White recently opted out of England’s friendlies against Brazil and Belgium, with reports suggesting a fallout with assistant manager Steve Holland during the 2022 World Cup.

Despite Gareth Southgate denying any rift and leaving the door open for White’s return, the defender chose to spend the international break on holiday in Dubai. Arteta, however, refused to rule out White’s return to the England set-up, emphasizing that the decision ultimately lies with the player. Arteta stated, “As a manager, I want the best for him, personally and professionally, and he needs to feel it.” He added that if White decides to return to the England team, it would be the best option for everyone, but it’s crucial to respect his decision.

White, who made his England debut in 2021, has four caps and was part of England’s squad for Euro 2020 and the 2022 World Cup. His future international appearances will depend on his personal choice and readiness to represent his country.
