Di Maria, known for his close bond with Messi, suggests that Messi’s injury, despite his absence being regrettable, could actually benefit Argentina. He advises the team to maintain composure as they prepare for the 2024 Copa America title defence later this year.
In an interview with D Sports, the Benfica player stated, “Leo is always missed. Having the best in history, being able to train and play with him is the best. It’s a shame that this [injury] happened to him now, but we have to be calm. It’s better that it happened now and he is fine for the Copa America.”
Following their 3-0 victory over El Salvador in a friendly, La Albiceleste will face Costa Rica next on Tuesday. Argentina will then shift their focus to the Copa America in the United States, with their title defence set to commence on June 20th.
