Arsenal's Kit Clash Chaos Delays Kick Off Against Chelsea In Ws

Arsenal faced embarrassment and a delayed kick-off in their Women’s Super League (WSL) clash against Chelsea as they were forced to make a last-minute dash to the Chelsea megastore to purchase socks. The match was delayed due to a kit clash, with both teams wearing white socks, contrary to the planned red socks for Arsenal.

The delay led to confusion among fans, with many taking to social media to express their bemusement. Arsenal legend Ian Wright described the situation as “embarrassing” and “ridiculous.” Eventually, Arsenal returned to the pitch wearing black Chelsea socks purchased from the club shop, with tape covering the Nike logo. Despite the chaotic start, a record crowd of 32,970 witnessed Chelsea dominate the match, with goals from Sjoeke Nusken helping them secure a 3-1 victory.

Lauren James, Rytting Kaneryd, and Nusken scored for Chelsea, while Kim Little grabbed a late consolation goal for Arsenal. The win sees Chelsea extend their lead at the top of the WSL table, opening a six-point gap over Arsenal. The match, initially scheduled to kick off at 7 pm, finally got underway at 7.30 pm after the kit clash issue was resolved.
