The match was delayed due to a kit clash, with both teams wearing white socks, contrary to the planned red socks for Arsenal.

Arsenal legend Ian Wright described the situation as “embarrassing” and “ridiculous.” Eventually, Arsenal returned to the pitch wearing black Chelsea socks purchased from the club shop, with tape covering the Nike logo. Despite the chaotic start, a record crowd of 32,970 witnessed Chelsea dominate the match, with goals from Sjoeke Nusken helping them secure a 3-1 victory.
Lauren James, Rytting Kaneryd, and Nusken scored for Chelsea, while Kim Little grabbed a late consolation goal for Arsenal. The win sees Chelsea extend their lead at the top of the WSL table, opening a six-point gap over Arsenal. The match, initially scheduled to kick off at 7 pm, finally got underway at 7.30 pm after the kit clash issue was resolved.
