Alessandro Jacobone reveals that Milan is covertly pursuing Brighton coach De Zerbi, while Thiago Motta remains a strong contender for the San Siro job.

Despite Stefano Pioli’s contract until 2025, Milan is reportedly seeking a new manager for the 2024-25 season, with Motta, De Zerbi, and Conte as top candidates. Jacobone provided updates on De Zerbi and Motta, noting Motta’s contract expiration in June and Milan’s interest in Bologna’s Joshua Zirkzee.

According to Jacobone, Milan is employing a persuasive tactic to lure Zirkzee, who has excelled in Serie A. He believes pairing Zirkzee with Motta would be ideal, creating a conducive environment for growth. However, Bayern’s reluctance to recall Zirkzee poses a challenge.

Regarding De Zerbi, Jacobone reveals Milan’s clandestine efforts, aware of his desire to return to Italy. Despite the €13m clause in his contract, Milan is determined to pursue De Zerbi, recognizing the need to plan for the future beyond negotiable figures.

De Zerbi, a Milan Academy product, faces Roma in the Europa League, returning to Italy after coaching Sassuolo. Though he never played for Milan, his ties to the club through Andrea Maldera make him an intriguing prospect for the Rossoneri.
