Bayern Munich are believed to have paid Spurs £3.5 million for the loan deal, effectively making the former England international a free agent. Dier has made six Bundesliga appearances for Bayern, contributing to one clean sheet. Club officials are said to be pleased with Dier’s contributions and leadership skills. He will continue to play alongside Harry Kane in Bayern’s quest for the German league title, as they currently sit eight points behind league leaders Bayer Leverkusen.
Xabi Alonso, currently managing Bayer Leverkusen, is reportedly on Bayern’s list of candidates to take over in the summer following Thomas Tuchel’s announcement that he will step down at the end of the season. Bayern will face Freiburg before the crucial second leg of the Champions League last 16 against Lazio.
