In a bid to fortify their squad, Manchester United has set their sights on Spanish left-back Miguel Gutierrez, 22, after the recent departure of Sergio Reguilon left a void in that position. SunSport reports that United’s scouts have closely monitored Gutierrez, who plays for Girona, in multiple recent outings, including the thrilling 4-3 victory against Atletico Madrid.
Gutierrez, a product of Real Madrid’s academy, joined Girona in the summer of 2022 and has become a linchpin in their lineup, contributing one goal and three assists in 20 appearances this season. Known for his high football IQ and attacking prowess, Gutierrez has attracted interest from AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund, with the latter’s £10.5 million bid rejected in the summer.
While Girona values Gutierrez at £22 million, his contract extends until June 2027. Real Madrid, still holding 50% of the player’s rights and a sell-on clause, could influence his future. United’s pursuit of Gutierrez not only aims to strengthen their squad but could potentially impact the La Liga title race, as both Girona and Real Madrid currently share the top spot.
