Since arriving at Arsenal on loan from Brentford over the summer, David Raya has taken over as the team’s primary goalkeeper, earning Mikel Arteta’s trust in the process. This shift has sparked speculation about Aaron Ramsdale’s future at the club, hinting that he might depart due to losing his starting position.

Raya recently shared insights about his rapport with Ramsdale, expressing contentment with his time at the north London club. In an interview with Arsenal.com, the Spaniard emphasized the significance of supporting the team when given the opportunity by the manager. He highlighted his positive relationship with Ramsdale, emphasizing their teamwork to improve each other during training sessions, ignoring external opinions, and concentrating solely on team goals.

“I’m enjoying every time I go out there, playing football and doing what I love, especially enjoying every single training session as well. It’s incredible to be part of this football club and hopefully, we can fight for the title. A club of this level, you cannot drop at any point. We want to fight and try to win as many titles as we can, so it’s very demanding. For me now, experiencing new things, it’s very demanding. The teams in the top six and top 10 are behind us so we have to keep on our toes and try to win every single match.”

Having featured in 18 matches across various competitions, Raya has secured nine clean sheets, notably six in Premier League fixtures. However, despite these successes, the 28-year-old has faced criticism for occasional errors, such as in the victory against Luton Town, where he made two notable mistakes in a 4-3 win.

Arsenal, under Arteta’s guidance, are striving to reclaim the league’s top spot by facing West Ham United at the Emirates, aiming to overcome a two-point gap behind Liverpool following the latter’s 2-0 victory over Burnley on Boxing Day.
