Adam Lallana is in discussions with Southampton for a return to St Mary’s following the club’s Premier League promotion. The Saints secured their return to the top flight after a 1-0 victory over Leeds in the Championship play-off final, thanks to Adam Armstrong’s winner. Lallana, 36, was seen in the Royal Box at Wembley, supporting his former team.

With his contract at Brighton expiring on June 30, Lallana is poised to rejoin Southampton, a decade after his departure. The move would mark manager Russell Martin’s first Premier League signing ahead of the next season, following Southampton’s promotion, which also triggered a £20 million obligation to sign Taylor Harwood-Bellis from Manchester City. Lallana joined Southampton’s academy at 12, rising through the ranks to make his senior debut in 2006. During his eight-year stint, he scored 60 goals and provided 45 assists in 265 appearances.

His performance earned him a £25 million transfer to Liverpool in 2014, where he won the Premier League and Champions League. After leaving Liverpool in 2020, Lallana contributed to Brighton’s rise, helping them secure their first European qualification. Now, with 104 appearances for Brighton, he is set to leave, potentially making a significant return to Southampton.
