Saudi Arabia’s football fans witnessed a dazzling legends game at Al-Ahli Sports Club featuring numerous iconic players, creating a star-studded spectacle for enthusiasts. Among them, FIFA president Infantino took to the field clad in a No.9 jersey and sported a captain’s armband. He later shared glimpses of the match on his Instagram account.

Infantino expressed on Instagram: “For one last time before the FIFA Club World Cup 2023 final, I gathered with friends and FIFA Legends here in πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡¦ Jeddah to enjoy a friendly game of football. ⚽❀️ “It was a great opportunity to interact and engage with the fans, who keep showing how football is an effective way to break barriers, eliminate discrimination and spread joy. πŸ€— #FootballUnitesTheWorld ⚽🌍🌏🌎❀️”

The match occurred following the FIFA Football Summit 2023, during which Infantino urged all stakeholders to support referees, especially in light of the recent violent incident in Turkey involving match official Halil Umut Meler and Ankaragucu president Faruk Koca.

Infantino emphasized, “We all have to fight for the referees against any sort of abuse and violence, but also to bring back respect and tolerance.”

“”And this starts with us, this starts with you, with the leaders of football, with the way we speak, with the way we act. It is our responsibility because what we do has an impact on many, many girls and many, many boys, not just positive but also negative.”‘

The FIFA president is set to attend Friday’s Club World Cup final between Manchester City and Fluminense at King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah.
