Brentford’s director, Lee Dykes, has acknowledged the potential departure of star striker Ivan Toney, expressing that the £100 million-rated England forward could move “very shortly.” Toney, who is reportedly “very excited” about interest from Arsenal, is expected to draw “lots of interest” in the January transfer window, according to Dykes.
Dykes shared his anticipation, stating, “There should be interest, and maybe the time comes very shortly that Ivan moves on to another club.” He emphasized that any interested club would need to pay a substantial transfer fee for Toney’s services, recognizing the striker as a remarkable talent. Dykes added, “I am so excited for Ivan to come back because I see him out there in training, and he is some player – it looks like he’s never been away.”
The Bees are speculated to seek a nine-figure sum for Toney, but Dykes suggested that a more realistic ambition might be around £80 million, with the potential for negotiations to settle closer to £60 million. Brentford’s manager, Thomas Frank, has previously acknowledged the club’s status as a selling club if the right price is offered, and Dykes is confident that Toney’s quality will attract a significant sum, stating, “He was the third-highest Premier League goalscorer last season – one of them [Harry Kane] has gone to Germany now, so he’s up there as one of the best strikers in the division. He is in the top five in the world, in my opinion.”
