Manchester United’s manager, Erik ten Hag, has conveyed to the fans not to anticipate the return of Casemiro and Lisandro Martinez to the field until after the Christmas period.

This season, the Red Devils have been plagued by recurring injury woes, especially in their defensive positions.

Raphael Varane, Luke Shaw, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Tyrell Malacia, and Martinez have all faced prolonged spells on the sidelines.

Regrettably, experienced midfielder Casemiro will also be joining the injured players.

When questioned about the status of Martinez and Casemiro’s fitness, Ten Hag commented, “I have some time schedules, yeah, but it’s always difficult to predict that because they can get setbacks during the rehab period so I’m always holding back a little bit on some issues.”

“I expect some back but Casemiro and Martinez are really strong injuries and I don’t expect them back before Christmas. It’s several weeks.”

Martinez hasn’t featured in a Premier League match since Manchester United’s 3-1 home defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion on September 16.

The World Cup winner recently acknowledged that patience is necessary for a full recovery from the metatarsal injury he’s been nursing, saying, “I am in the process of recovery and happy to be here visiting the club.”

“It is the second time that an injury like this has happened to me. So, you have to be patient.”

On the other hand, Casemiro suffered a hamstring injury during Manchester United’s 3-0 loss to Newcastle United in the League Cup.

This season has presented numerous challenges for Ten Hag and his squad.

In addition to their early exit from the Carabao Cup, Manchester United currently occupies third place in their Champions League group and eighth place in the Premier League.
