The 32-year-old international from Belgium hobbled out during City’s 3-0 Premier League victory against Burnley on August 11.
“The news after the Burnley game was a really big blow for me physically and mentally,” he said on social media.
“Now that the procedure is over, I’m prepared to let my body recover and return to work shortly. I want to thank you all for your help.
In June’s victory over Inter Milan in the Champions League final, the midfielder also left the game due to an injury.
