David De Gea was ready to rejoin Manchester United if Erik ten Hag had left, but he is now set to join another club, according to reports. The Spanish goalkeeper, who left United after his contract expired in the 2022/23 campaign, is gearing up for a return to the pitch following a year-long break.

De Gea, a United and Premier League icon, did not receive the send-off he deserved due to uncertainty surrounding his future during the season. Upset with Erik ten Hag and former football director John Murtough for his departure, De Gea told his inner circle he would return if they left.

However, Ten Hag remains manager, and Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s group has overseen Murtough’s exit, replaced by Dan Ashworth. Despite these changes, De Gea is unlikely to return to Old Trafford. He trains regularly and hinted at an announcement with a recent tweet. Options for De Gea include clubs in Saudi Arabia, America, and Italy, with a preference for staying in Europe.
