As the new football season nears, the Gunners are gearing up for their pre-season preparations by heading to the United States for a series of friendly matches. Mikel Arteta will lead a 26-man squad, captained by Martin Odegaard, which includes both seasoned veterans and promising young players.
Several key players will be absent from this tour due to their involvement in the European Championship or Copa America. Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka, Aaron Ramsdale, David Raya, and William Saliba are currently on a break and will rejoin the team in London after the US tour. However, Gabriel Magalhaes, Gabriel Martinelli, and Kai Havertz will join the tour on July 25 after fulfilling their commitments to Copa America and Euro 2024.
Injuries have also influenced the squad selection. Kieran Tierney, recovering from a hamstring injury, and Takehiro Tomiyasu, dealing with a knee issue, will stay in London to continue their rehabilitation at the Sobha Realty Training Centre. Despite these absences, key players such as Ben White, Gabriel Jesus, Jurrien Timber, Leandro Trossard, Jorginho, Jakub Kiwior, and Oleksandr Zinchenko are part of the traveling team.
Arsenal’s pre-season tour begins with a match against Bournemouth at LA Galaxy’s Dignity Health Sports Park on Wednesday, July 24. They will then face Manchester United at the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on Saturday, July 27, and conclude with a match against Liverpool at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia on Wednesday, August 1, before returning to the UK.
