The 28-year-old midfielder’s contract with the Toffees expired at the end of the 2023-24 season, after making only 13 appearances since his move to Merseyside in January 2022.
The original deal had no upfront payment, with Spurs relying on bonus-related payments, which were never triggered. However, Spurs would still be entitled to a fee if Dele convinces Everton to offer him a new contract.
Currently training with Sean Dyche’s squad following surgery in January, Dele is expected to sign a new deal. Tottenham is reportedly ready to forgo a “significant” amount of money to support the player who made 269 appearances for them in revitalizing his career.
Nevertheless, Spurs want to ensure they benefit from any resurgence in Dele’s performance. According to football.london, the new contract at Goodison Park will include additional payments for certain objectives and a sell-on clause.
