Manchester United are reportedly working to offload Donny van de Beek, who has fallen out of favor under manager Erik ten Hag. The 27-year-old Dutch midfielder made just two appearances for United last season, including a two-minute cameo in the Premier League.

After a disappointing loan spell at Eintracht Frankfurt, where he made only eight Bundesliga appearances without scoring or assisting, the German club opted not to trigger his £12 million purchase option. United are now looking to sell van de Beek for a fraction of the £35 million they paid Ajax for him in September 2020.

With one year remaining on his contract, United are keen to recoup some of their investment before the 2024-25 season kicks off. A loan move has been ruled out, and the club is pushing for a sale to avoid losing him on a free transfer next summer. However, his contract situation is deterring potential buyers.

Van de Beek has made 62 appearances for United, scoring two goals and providing two assists. He will not be part of Ten Hag’s plans going forward, as new signing Mason Mount is set to play a significant role in midfield this season after missing much of the 2023-24 campaign due to injury.
