The Gunners have officially confirmed the permanent signing of David Raya, who was previously on loan from Brentford for the 2023/24 season. During his loan spell, the Spanish goalkeeper secured the Premier League Golden Glove by achieving 16 clean sheets. Raya has now committed to a long-term contract at the Emirates.
According to reports, the transfer fee for Raya was £30m ($38m). He will continue to vie for the position of Mikel Arteta’s first-choice goalkeeper alongside Aaron Ramsdale. This past season, Raya solidified his place as the primary goalkeeper, making 32 league appearances.
Raya expressed his enthusiasm on Arsenal’s official website, stating, “After a year on loan as a Gunner, I can finally say that I’m an Arsenal player for the coming years. I’m excited to see what the future holds but always living in and enjoying the present.”
“It’s a dream come true to be here and I want to thank you for all the support you have already given me throughout the last year.”
Currently, Raya is representing Spain at Euro 2024. Their next match is a highly anticipated quarter-final clash against Germany on Friday.
