According to TNT Sports, Javier Mascherano, the coach of Argentina’s U23 squad, has formally requested that Manchester United release Alejandro Garnacho for the upcoming Summer Olympics in Paris. However, United has not yet responded to this request. A similar situation exists with Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez, another promising player Mascherano hopes to include in his Olympic team.
Besides Garnacho and Fernandez, Mascherano is also awaiting a response from Aston Villa regarding Emiliano Martinez’s availability. On a positive note, he has already secured the participation of Nicolas Otamendi and Julian Alvarez, both of whom add significant talent and experience to the squad.
Garnacho’s potential inclusion in both Argentina’s Copa America squad and the Under-23 team for the Paris Olympics could leave him with little time to rest before the next season starts on August 10, with the Community Shield match against Manchester City at Wembley. Garnacho has been a key player for Manchester United this season, contributing 15 goals in 50 appearances, including scoring the opening goal in the FA Cup final win over Manchester City.
If selected, Garnacho would join the Copa America squad in early June, with the tournament’s final set for July 14 in Miami. He would then travel to Paris to join the Olympic squad, with the men’s football tournament beginning on July 24.
