Having concluded his illustrious playing career with two seasons at MLS club LAFC, the renowned Italian football legend recently retired. However, he is not bidding farewell to The Black and Golds just yet, as he assumes the role of the club’s Player Development Coach.

LAFC co-president and general manager, John Thorrington, expressed gratitude for Giorgio’s 18-month stint as a player, stating, “We were thankful to have Giorgio play the final 18 months of his playing career with LAFC. During that time he proved what an asset he is for LAFC in a number of ways, and we are excited to add a truly brilliant football mind, incredible leader, and an even better person to our staff for the upcoming season.”

The 39-year-old former Juventus star, who participated in 45 matches across all competitions during his two seasons with LAFC, clinched the 2022 Supporters’ Shield and 2022 MLS Cup titles. Additionally, he reached the runner-up position in the 2023 CONCACAF Champions League. The upcoming MLS season, under the management of Steve Cherundolo, kicks off for LAFC on February 24 against the Seattle Sounders.
