As West Ham’s current manager, David Moyes, approaches the end of his contract this summer, the club is actively exploring potential replacements. According to The Athletic, a decision regarding Moyes’s future will be deferred until the conclusion of the season. In the meantime, contingency plans have identified Ruben Amorim as the favoured option over Julen Lopetegui.

Despite recent speculation linking Amorim with Liverpool as a successor to Jurgen Klopp, particularly following Xabi Alonso’s reaffirmed commitment to Bayer Leverkusen, The Athletic suggests it’s now improbable that Amorim will be Liverpool’s top choice. This shift comes despite reports that Amorim’s agent, Raul Costa, purchased an apartment in Liverpool, albeit also representing current Liverpool player Luis Diaz.

Amorim, who enjoyed a significant playing career with Benfica, achieved remarkable success by guiding city rivals Sporting CP to their first Primeira Liga title in 19 years during the 2020-21 season, his debut full season as manager. Sporting CP is on the verge of clinching the title once more this season, holding a commanding 10-point lead over Benfica in the current standings with only a few matches remaining.

Securing two more victories from their final four fixtures would mathematically guarantee Sporting CP the Primeira Liga title for the second time in four years, possibly even sooner if Benfica falters in any upcoming matches. Amorim will then face a decision regarding his future, weighing the offers on the table. He has stated his intention not to make any definitive decisions or comments until the season concludes, emphasizing his primary focus on securing Sporting CP’s championship aspirations as swiftly as possible.
