Joshua Kimmich’s header in the second half clinched a 1-0 victory for Bayern over Arsenal on Wednesday night, securing their spot in the competition’s semi-finals with a 3-2 aggregate win. Following the match, defender Dier, who spent nearly a decade at Spurs before joining Bayern on loan in January, added insult to Arsenal’s injury with his remarks.

The 30-year-old, who has played 14 matches for the German giants so far, shared with Sky Sports: “Yeah it was nice [beating Arsenal]. It was nice, it was nice to knock them out to be honest.”

Dier, who reunited with former Tottenham colleague Harry Kane at Bayern, made his loan switch permanent in early March, benefiting all involved. Despite the victory against Arsenal, Bayern face a daunting challenge against Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-finals, aiming to avoid a season without silverware for the first time since 2012.

Bayern, whose Bundesliga reign ended recently with Bayer Leverkusen claiming the title, will play Union Berlin away on Saturday, followed by a home game against Eintracht Frankfurt. Their daunting task against Madrid in the first leg of the crucial UCL tie commences on April 30.
