Aston Villa footballer Jhon Durán found himself in a car accident just hours before a crucial match against Lille. The Colombia international’s BMW X6 was visibly damaged, with the front of the car crumpled and leaking fluids. Durán, wearing Villa training gear, was seen at the scene, having reportedly crashed into a van in Birmingham around 11.20 am.

Eyewitnesses noted his immediate concern for everyone’s safety and his presence at the scene until authorities arrived. Fortunately, no injuries were reported from the incident. Despite the crash, Durán is expected to be on the bench for Villa’s Europa Conference League quarter-final. Since joining Villa in January 2023, Durán has shown promise, scoring his first Premier League goal last August and impressing in Europe.

The 20-year-old has won eight caps for Colombia and was anticipated to play a key role in the Lille match, with star striker Olly Watkins still recovering from injury. Villa has yet to state the incident.
