As per ESPN, Real Madrid sought UEFA’s approval to enclose the Santiago Bernabeu roof for the initial leg of their Champions League quarter-final. With the installation of a retractable roof in their renovated stadium, the club believes that sealing it will enhance the atmosphere for the crucial clash against the reigning European champions.

Following a technical meeting before the match, which included consultation with designated referee Francois Letexier, UEFA has made a final decision on the matter. According to The Guardian, Real Madrid has been given the green light to close the stadium once again, marking four weeks since they last played under a sealed roof during the second leg of their last-16 tie against RB Leipzig.

Manchester City arrived in Madrid for this pivotal fixture with two key defenders, Kyle Walker and Nathan Ake, absent from the 21-man matchday squad due to injuries.

Following their home encounter with Pep Guardiola’s team, Carlo Ancelotti’s side will resume La Liga action on Saturday against Mallorca. A victory in this fixture would bring them closer to clinching the league title.
