Andrea Di Caro, Deputy Director of Gazzetta dello Sport, advocates for Roma to extend Daniele De Rossi’s contract beyond the summer, citing that he has gone above and beyond what’s expected. De Rossi, who took over from Joé Mourinho in January, has managed to secure eight Serie A victories out of eleven matches, including a significant win against Lazio in Saturday’s derby.

With De Rossi’s current contract set to expire in the summer, Di Caro emphasizes in Gazzetta dello Sport that it is imperative for Roma to retain the services of the 2006 Italy World Cup winner beyond this period. “It’s virtually impossible for De Rossi to contribute any more than he already has,” Di Caro stated.

Di Caro highlights De Rossi’s transformative impact on a previously struggling Roma side, elevating them from a 9th place position to contention for a Champions League spot. Despite an upcoming Europa League quarter-final clash against Milan, Di Caro warns against solely basing the club’s future on qualification outcomes.

Additionally, Di Caro supports the continuity of Stefano Pioli’s tenure as Milan’s manager. Pioli, whose contract extends until June 2025, has managed to guide Milan through challenging times and restore their style of play to an impressive level. Despite rumors linking Antonio Conte and Thiago Motta to the Rossoneri job, Di Caro stresses Pioli’s contributions and advocates for him to lead the envisioned ‘Fantasy Milan’ project.

As Milan and Roma prepare to face off in the Europa League quarter-final first leg, with the match taking place at San Siro on Thursday, Di Caro notes Milan’s recent 3-0 victory against Lecce, which further solidified their position in the Serie A table, placing them nine points clear of third-placed Juventus.
