The League Cup final between Chelsea and Arsenal ended in heated scenes as Chelsea manager Emma Hayes was involved in a confrontation with Arsenal manager Jonas Eidevall. The incident occurred at the end of extra time after Arsenal secured victory, ending Chelsea’s hopes of a quadruple.

As Eidevall approached Hayes following the final whistle, she gestured towards him before pushing him away, sparking a heated exchange. Hayes expressed her disappointment with Eidevall’s behavior, criticizing what she described as male aggression on the sidelines. In her post-match comments to BBC Sport, Hayes emphasized the need for respectful behavior on the touchline and suggested that Eidevall’s actions were unacceptable. Despite the altercation, Arsenal emerged victorious thanks to Stina Blackstenius’ late goal, securing the League Cup title.

The defeat ended Chelsea’s hopes of a quadruple in Hayes’ final season as manager. However, the team remains in contention for the FA Cup and Champions League titles, currently sitting second in the Women’s Super League. Hayes is set to step down at the end of the season after 12 years in charge to take over the USA national team.
