The 26-year-old Dutchman has expressed his desire to leave the Serie A club, with United among the clubs interested in his services. Koopmeiners has been a key figure for Atalanta but has decided it’s time for a new challenge.

He revealed to De Telegraaf his intention to depart in the summer, indicating a preference for a move to England. Despite also attracting interest from Juventus and other Premier League clubs, Koopmeiners seems inclined towards a switch to the English top flight. Atalanta are said to be willing to sell Koopmeiners for approximately £51 million, and Manchester United are reportedly at the forefront of the race for his signature. The Red Devils have been monitoring the midfielder since January and are optimistic about securing a deal, despite competition from the likes of Liverpool and Juventus.
