In Everton’s matchday program ahead of their 2-0 victory against Liverpool in the Merseyside derby earlier this week, Pickford participated in the club’s ‘Matchday Takeover’ segment. When asked about a rule change he’d like to see, the English goalkeeper proposed a radical idea: “Let’s do away with fouls and just keep the game flowing.”

Additionally, the 30-year-old suggested shaking up players’ attire protocols pre and post matches. He also expressed his dream VIP guest for an Everton match: Denzel Washington, his favorite actor.

Football has witnessed numerous rule modifications over time, from the introduction of red and yellow cards to the abolishment of the back-pass rule, among others. Technological advancements like VAR have also made significant impacts on the sport. However, Pickford’s tongue-in-cheek suggestion, while entertaining, is unlikely to materialize.

Currently positioned 16th in the Premier League, Pickford’s Everton team sits eight points clear of the relegation zone. They are set to take on Brentford at Goodison Park on Saturday evening.
