The DAZN presenter shed light on the challenges of maintaining a long-distance relationship following the birth of their daughter in August last year. Leotta resides in Milan while Karius spends most of his time in northeastern England, where he currently plays for Newcastle United.

Speaking to Tuttosport, Leotta expressed, “Loris has people by his side who are working for him. I hope he makes the best choice for his career. I live in Milan and so let’s say that close to Milan in terms of comfort would be ideal for us.”

When the interviewer suggested Monza, Leotta responded, “Monza or any other team in Italy. I would be happy if she could come and play in Italy and be close to his family. Newcastle is very inconvenient because there are no direct flights. Neither about Paris nor about Amsterdam.”

Leotta’s remarks highlight the challenges that players encounter when the transient nature of their profession separates them from their families.

Karius’s contract with Newcastle expires in the summer, and a move to Serie A could offer a new opportunity for the 30-year-old goalkeeper, who has struggled to secure regular playing time since his difficult stint at Liverpool.

It’s highly likely that Karius will be on the Newcastle bench for the 16th time this season when they face West Ham United at St James’ Park on Saturday afternoon.
