Pickford gestured for his teammates to provide options and then tried to play a long diagonal pass to Jarrod Bowen. However, the pass was intercepted easily after dragging along the ground.
This costly mistake comes in England’s last game before Gareth Southgate announces his squad for Euro 2024. Despite criticism from some fans, including calls for him to be replaced as England’s number one goalkeeper, Pickford received support from former England goalkeeper Rob Green, who noted that this was the first significant mistake Pickford has made in an England shirt.
