Former Chelsea standout Hazard retired from professional football last year following a disappointing stint marred by injuries at Real Madrid. However, according to ESPN, the 33-year-old is set to make a comeback by participating in a seven-a-side tournament in North America later this year.

The competition, which will take place in Mexico, will also feature former Manchester United and England defender Rio Ferdinand, as well as renowned players like Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Neymar. Hazard will represent Deptostra FC, managed by Belgian streamer Celine Dept, while Ferdinand will lead his own team, Five FC. Additionally, Mario Gotze will manage Youniors FC alongside German TikTok sensation Younes Zarou.

Initiated by ex-Spain and Barcelona defender Gerard Pique, the Kings World Cup introduces video game-style regulations to football. Matches will last 40 minutes with seven players on each side, featuring intervals where goals count double and the removal of players determined by dice rolls.

This year’s tournament in Mexico will host a total of 32 teams, with the Kings World Cup scheduled to run from May 26 to June 9.
