Following their injuries sustained during international duty with Switzerland and the Netherlands respectively, Inter has provided updates on the fitness of Sommer and De Vrij.

In a statement, Inter revealed, “Yann Sommer and Stefan De Vrij underwent medical examinations this morning at the Humanitas Institute in Rozzano. The tests indicated that the Swiss goalkeeper has a sprained right ankle, which will be monitored day by day.” Additionally, they mentioned, “The Dutch defender, on the other hand, will undergo further assessment in the coming days due to a strain in the adductor longus muscle in the right thigh.”

Both players are anticipated to sit out Inter’s upcoming match against Empoli. However, according to Sky Sport Italia correspondent Matteo Barzaghi, there remains a possibility of Sommer’s availability for the clash with Empoli at San Siro on Monday, April 1, contingent upon his recovery progress in the upcoming days.

Barzaghi indicated via X, formerly Twitter, that Sommer’s participation hinges on his recuperation.

Meanwhile, De Vrij is set to miss the Empoli game but is expected to return for matches against Udinese or Cagliari.
