Earlier this month, FootballTransfers indicated that Manchester United were in a strong position to secure the services of Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite as they seek to strengthen their defensive line for the upcoming 2024/25 season.

Now, according to the Daily Mail, Manchester United could face competition from both Manchester City and the La Liga powerhouse Real Madrid in their pursuit of the talented English defender. Branthwaite currently holds a release clause of £60m (€70m) in his existing contract.

During the 2023/24 season, Branthwaite featured in 31 matches across various competitions and showcased consistent performances for Everton, despite the club’s placement in the lower half of the league table.

At 21 years old, Branthwaite received his first call-up to the England national team ahead of the March international friendlies, potentially marking his debut for The Three Lions on Tuesday against Belgium at Wembley.
