England captain Harry Kane will miss the upcoming friendlies against Brazil and Belgium as he continues his recovery from an ankle injury. The 30-year-old sustained the injury in Bayern Munich’s recent match against Darmstadt and has been training away from the team since joining up with the England squad. Kane, who has missed just one international game in the last two and a half years, will not be risked for the friendlies and is expected to return to Germany for further treatment after the clash with Brazil.

Kyle Walker will captain the Three Lions in Kane’s absence, while either Ollie Watkins or Ivan Toney will lead the line against Brazil. Manager Gareth Southgate has also confirmed that Jordan Henderson and Cole Palmer will miss the Brazil game, with Palmer having a better chance of featuring against Belgium.
