During a recent press conference, Luciano Spalletti, the manager of Italy’s national team, expressed his frustration with his players’ excessive use of PlayStation. This outburst came as Spalletti addressed the media before their upcoming matches against Venezuela and Ecuador. Despite Italy’s qualification for the Euro 2020 tournament following a draw against Ukraine last November, Spalletti was displeased with the team’s performance, particularly noting some players staying up late playing PlayStation before the game.

Spalletti emphasized the importance of proper rest and professionalism among his players, highlighting that a footballer’s quality is evident not only on the pitch but also in their off-field behavior. He announced plans to enforce stricter regulations during the European Championship, including establishing a common playroom with a curfew to discourage late-night gaming sessions.

This isn’t the first time Spalletti has raised concerns about his team’s PlayStation use. In a previous interview with Gazzetta dello Sport, he stressed the need for respect and discipline within the national team, insisting that players leave their consoles at home and focus on their responsibilities. He even proposed alternative activities to keep players occupied during downtime.

Italy secured their spot in the Euros amidst controversy over a late penalty claim by Ukraine, ensuring their participation in the upcoming tournament in Germany.
