He describes the initial diagnosis as a difficult time, when he was hospitalized for several weeks and underwent a major operation to remove part of his bowel and drain abscesses.
Despite the challenges, Shinnie’s manager Terry Butcher provided him with support and encouragement to return to the game once he had recovered. Throughout his career, Shinnie has remained consistent in his form and continues to be the captain of Aberdeen Football Club.
