Postecoglou, aged 58, wryly remarked that Tottenham’s hopes of securing a top-four finish seemed dashed after a surprising 3-0 loss to Fulham on the road. Rodrigo Muniz broke the deadlock just before halftime, capitalizing on Fulham’s dominance in front of their home crowd. Sasa Lukic doubled the lead shortly after halftime, followed by Muniz scoring his second goal of the evening at the hour mark.

In the aftermath of the unexpected defeat at Craven Cottage, the Spurs manager bristled at inquiries concerning their prospects in the top-four race this season. “Yeah look it’s all over [the top four race] so we will just go for sixth,” he quipped to Sky Sports.

“I mean what am I supposed to say to that, we are two points behind Villa. Yeah? What does that mean with 10 games to go, what are 10 games to go.” he continued.

“Psychologically I don’t really worry about that stuff. It is 10 games there is so much football to be played. If we had one today nothing was guaranteed, could’ve lost last week nothing was guaranteed. So I don’t worry about that stuff and never have. It’s not about just falling into a place in the ladder.”

Following a commanding 4-0 win against fellow Champions League contenders Aston Villa the previous weekend, Tottenham had a prime opportunity to overtake Unai Emery’s side in the standings with a victory over Fulham. However, they currently sit two points behind Villa in fifth place and will now rely on West Ham United to achieve a favorable result against Villa at the London Stadium on Sunday.

The North London team will return to action after the international break, gearing up to host Luton Town on March 30. Following that fixture, they face a swift turnaround before a midweek showdown against West Ham on April 2. With Tottenham holding a game in hand over Villa, each match becomes crucial for Postecoglou’s side.
