Before the halftime whistle of the Brighton-Roma match last night, tensions soared, as detailed by Il Corriere dello Sport, when Roberto De Zerbi allegedly shoved Giallorossi team manager Valerio Cardini on the touchline.

Despite suffering a 1-0 defeat against Brighton on Thursday, Roma secured a spot in the Europa League quarter-finals with a commanding 4-0 victory at the Stadio Olimpico the previous week.

The atmosphere at the Amex Stadium was charged both on and off the field, with confrontations erupting among players and staff members.

As per Il Corriere dello Sport’s account, Brighton coach De Zerbi became embroiled in an incident towards the end of the first half. Allegedly, the Italian coach confronted Roma team manager Valerio Cardini, even resorting to physicality, but Daniele De Rossi intervened, restraining Cardini and guiding him back to the Roma bench.

The report suggests that De Rossi was displeased with the conduct of certain Brighton players who had incited his team, while Leandro Paredes and Lorenzo Pellegrini stood up for their teammates during the game.
